A Mardi Gras Ball in South Louisiana is truly a feast for the eyes. There are dazzling costumes in a glittering array of colors and themes, and more rhinestones and sequins than stars in the heavens!
A ball, sometimes called a bal masque, is a krewe's opportunity to introduce its new royalty to the Carnival-loving community.
Through its tableau, or themed pageant, the audience meets the krewe's leaders, royalty and lively characters, all performing in an entertaining evening of song and dance.
Most Mardi Gras balls are private affairs, for members and their guests only. If you are not a krewe member, and you're interested in attending a Ball, please note the balls that have tickets available for non-members. (**)
